took this a couple days ago when my friend stayed over
blehh my scanner makes colours dreary

“you live like this, sheltered, in a delicate world, and you believe you are living. then you read a book… or you take a trip… and you discover that you are not living, that you are hibernating. the symptoms of hibernating are easily detectable: first, restlessness. the second symptom (when hibernating becomes dangerous and might degenerate into death): absence of pleasure. that is all. it appears like an innocuous illness. monotony, boredom, death. millions live like this (or die like this) without knowing it. they work in offices. they drive a car. they picnic with their families. they raise children. and then some shock treatment takes place, a person, a book, a song, and it awakens them and saves them from death. some never awaken.”

Always.

Wednesday, 11 April 2012

the pitter patter of the rain is
the soothing hand on my back
Hey. Hey, its going to be okay.
its the one tune
I could leave on the record forever, and
the plunging raindrops
were the only thing that
kept me company on
Sunday afternoons

something I wrote on 03.09.12.

I haven't been taking photos that much. I've been itching to take some selfies but the batteries died for my remote. This is the view from across the street of my house, I guess it goes to show you that I simply can't stop taking pictures. Whenever I see an interesting: face, light, location, anything, I always wish I had my camera in my hands.

"Being tender and open is beautiful. As a woman, I feel continually shhh’ed. Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy. Blah blah. Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all – look around you. All of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love."

Thank you so much: Sherilynn for modeling, Jade for letting us use her trampoline, Himani for lending me her wig and Dad for letting me use your equipment. I'm going on a photoshoot hiatus for a while, which may or may not become permanent.

Can you imagine if I actually became an established photographer. If I got to shoot campaigns and editorials for big enough names that I could live off solely on my work. Can. you. imagine.

The Night Is Ours

Models are Claudia and Maggie. :)
This shoot was shorter than I wanted it to be, and I still had lots of stuff I wanted to shoot. But it was a school night, I don't have a real flash, so the one on my camera kept stalling and not to mention is was FREEZING! Anyways, these girls were great and I hope to shoot with them again in the future.

The Beginning of Amelia and Jesse

..Don't mind the title heh. This was such a fun shoot! Sarah is such a willing model, it was great working with her today. Also, the water really was that blue, we dyed it. This is a little different then what I usually do, but its important to always try new things.
Theres one more photo missing, but Sarah doesn't want me putting it up here, which I totally respect. But it is one of my favourites.

(Theres another version of this, almost identical, but with her eyes open.)

This really just needed to be on my blog.

Collage I made of Daphne on a whim. Its made from paper, melted crayons, paint and newspaper on canvas. Again,I really don’t like how my art looks online. Its much better in person; you can see the textures, the strokes and use of different mediums.

I drew the statue from my bathroom and the background from my mind.
I haven't done a proper drawing in soo long. This is the first drawing I've done with my new sketching pencils. The bottom is a little bit cut off because my scanner wasn't big enough, you can see my half of my signature in the corner. Its mostly there though. Urhh..I hate how my artwork looks online. It always appears more washed out then in real life.

Just a couple of my latest paintings. They look much better in person; its seems that I can never take a decent photo of my paintings.

Sally Mann Inspired

I want my photos to be more pure. I want them to have more meaning, and I want people to feel something, take something away from a photo when they look at it. So I really want to start shooting film. Maybe I don't want to be a fashion photographer after all.

Queen of the Sargeants

This was my first time shooting with a model from Model Mayhem! Say hello to Rachel; she was lovely to work with! Her mom is really nice as well :) I'm so excited about these photos, they brought along a whole bunch of clothes/accessories, they were so prepared. And of course Cairo hit it spot on with the make-up. I was a little nervous at first, but it turned out to be a fabulous day. Thanks so much, Cairo for doing the amazing make-up and Rachel for being such a stunning muse.
